CalcQuarry is a free collection of 18 calculators for building, landscaping and home projects: the everyday questions of how
much concrete to order, how many bags of mulch to buy or how many steps a staircase needs.
Why these calculators
Many calculators give a number without saying how they got it. That’s a problem when the number decides how much material you pay for.
Every calculator here shows its formula, works through an example with the same code the calculator uses, and links the data sheets,
standards and building-department documents behind its constants, so you can check the answer yourself.
How the calculators are built
- Each formula is a small, separate function covered by automated tests with hand-checked answers.
- Material constants such as bag yields and weights per cubic yard come from the manufacturer or a named source, never from guesswork.
- Code limits, such as maximum stair riser height, are summarized from official handouts, with a reminder to check local amendments.
- Each page shows when it was last reviewed.
